About Ambassador

His Services

Ambassador Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini was appointed Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Arab Republic of Egypt in June 2024.
He received his education within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from childhood through his university studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from King Saud University in Riyadh in 1980. He was then sponsored to study in Washington, USA, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the American University in 1986.

  • Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Arab Republic of Egypt
  • Member of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC)

  • Ambassador of the Kingdom to India (June 2022 – May 2024)
  • Commercial and Economic Advisor at the Office of Tasks and Initiatives Affairs – The Royal Court of the Kingdom
  • Appointed by Royal Decree as Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva (2017 – 2020)
  • Member of the Shura Council – Chairman of the Economy and Energy Committee for several terms (2005 – 2017)
  • Member of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)
  • President of the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)

1. Negotiation Roles

Saudi Arabia's Accession to the WTO

  • Member of the Saudi negotiating team for the Kingdom’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO)
  • Participated in drafting the accession documentation
  • Head of the study team assessing the impacts of the Kingdom's accession to the WTO
  • Lead negotiator for industrial goods regarding WTO accession
  • Co-negotiator for the final rounds of the accession negotiations

The Gas Initiative Negotiations

  • Member of the Saudi negotiating team for the Gas Initiative
  • Lead negotiator for electricity and petrochemical projects under the Gas Initiative framework

2. Economic Reform Projects

  • Head of the team that drafted the amendment to the Foreign Capital Investment Law and formulated the regulations establishing the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA)
  • Head of the team that drafted the regulations for the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON)
  • Head of the team that formulated the National Industrial Strategy
